To BJ. from R.{Sir Henry Royce} c. to OY. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} c. to BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} EP.{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer} X8370 R 5/M29.4.27. BRAKES. X. 8370 X. 8420 X. 5370 X. 5420 It should be thoroughly understood that the present servo is not perfectly satisfactory unless fitted with a spring thrust collar. This fitting causes the servo to act without jaggers, and without shock. I understand there is a tendency to alter the bedding of brakes in case of their rough action - (London trials driver reported this of a 20 HP. at Cricklewood). This seems wrong.
