85230. To RHC.{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer} From Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} c. to By/SS.{S. Smith} Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}2/MJ.25.7.32. RESONANCE SILENCERS. The resonance type silencer which you fitted to 19-G4. had the objectionable feature that it clicked slightly when cooling down or heating up. We have previously experienced this trouble on the standard P.2 silencer due to the sliding dia. of the baffles being too tight and increasing the clearance of these baffles satisfactorily cured the trouble. Will you please ensure that the silencer you are making for Wor{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager}'s. car does not suffer from this defect, and having established a suitable clearance get it incorporated in the drawing.
