With reference to Mr Royce's enquiry re the plate clutch, I refer to my report dated April 30th re plate clutch and changing gear. I certainly do think that the situation has been changed since the introduction of the cotton fabric clutch which will stand any amount of rough usage without in the least way affecting its use. It does not require careful lubrication and "propping out" and will stand any amount of slipping under full power without doing any harm or causing any ill effect, whereas in the case of the plate clutch although its weaker spring certainly allows the pedal to be worked more easily in other respects has not shown to advantage so far over the cotton fabric Continued. This sheet must be filed with the correspondence to which it refers. Stamp: B 14 MAY 1912 Left Margin Note: X 356 | ||
