Dear Sirs,

Re: Asbestos under floorboards of 'Phantom' Cars.

We have been given to understand that your Company proposes using 'Euralite' instead of Asbestos.

As this is not in accordance with our Works recommendations, we have enquired into the respective merits of the two materials and are informed by the Manufacturer who makes both, that 'Euralite' is quite unsuitable for our purpose. It is a mixture of cement and asbestos; it is brittle and is marketed for an entirely different purpose - i.e. in connection with fire proofing, as distinct from heat resistance.

We shall be glad, therefore, if you will see that instructions are given to your people to continue to use the Asbestos millboard.

Yours faithfully,
for Rolls-Royce, Limited,

(Sd). A.F. Sidgreaves.

General Sales Manager.
