In the meantime, output must not be stopped, and the Experimental Dept. must study the question as to whether there is any method of damping the period which has not the disadvant- ages which attach to this type of engine coup- ling, and which has not other serious disadvant- ages. Please show this memorandum to all the gentlemen mentioned in it. In answering this question, all the gentlemen concerned should also take into consideration that the jaggering of the clutch is hardly perceptible when the plain engine coupling is replaced with a damped spring type coupling.
