RE ALUMINIUM PISTONS.

With reference to your memo CJ16/E3.11.19.m I consider that it was Mr. Bentley who first pointed out ot us the possibilities of aluminium pistons. Until we sent to Mr. Royce a sample piston which we obtained from Mr. Bentley, I had not heard alumijium pistons mentioned in connection with R.R. engines or Cars.

Attached herewith is a copy of the original letter which, to the best of my knowledge, was the start-off of Aluminium Pistons in connection with Rolls-Royce.

I think it was Mr. Bentley and not Commander Briggs who first raised Aluminium Pistons.

EH.
