X8600 X8774 PHANTOM SPORTS CHASSIS. Now that we are in a position to build a Sports Phantom, we think it is reasonably safe to assume that we shall have completed a 10,000 miles test towards the end of February. If we can carry out this programme, it means that at the end of Feb. we shall have a Sports Phantom car which will be definitely different in appearance to the standard Phantom which we shall then be selling. If it is desired that there should be the minimum difference in the appearance between the Sports chassis and the standard chassis, we strongly recommend that the narrower radiator which has been agreed to by all officials is released for standard production. The ordering of the standard Phantom radiator material has been delayed as long as possible, but we must now either put in hand material for the narrower tube radiator or carry on with the standard radiator. Another section which we have held up on the present standard Phantom, which must be released, is the spare wheel carrier at the rear. We think it is important that we should get this on because it is the only way we know in which we can improve the riding. We understand that the radiatorx riding quality is still Item 1. on the list of Phantom worst features. The standardisation sheet for the carrier at the rear has contd :- | ||
