W/S. [Handwritten] 10/11 33 To Bn.{W.O. Bentley / Mr Barrington} from Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Gry.{Shadwell Grylls} Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Gry.{Shadwell Grylls}1/KT. 2.6.33. Could you let us have some information on the following points which would be useful to us and might explain some tests we have recently done. (1) Was there any noticeable loss in power on the 6 1/4 or 8 litre when running with the crankshaft damper off or with insufficient damping due to the energy required by the torsional vibration at about 3000 r.p.m. (2) Have you any figures of B.H.P. for identical engines except for crankshaft journal size. We seem to remember that tests on the 4 1/4 litre might furnish this. (3) Was the Oldham coupling driving the auxiliaries on the 4 litre O.K. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Gry.{Shadwell Grylls} | ||
