341 Sept.11th 1937 Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/AFM.{Anthony F. Martindale}6/AP. British Belting & Asbestos Ltd., Scandinavia Mills, CLECKHEATON. Dear Sirs, For the attention of Mr.Sisman We would like to try a Phantom III. servo motor lining made of Halo J.L. We enclose a print of the lining. You will see that there are splines which prevent the lining from rotating. The load on the splines is the small difference between the friction force on the two faces (if any). We think Halo is mechanically strong enough to be made this way, especially if an inner layer of cloth is used, as on a brake lining. We should like 6 such discs; when the writer returns to the works in a fortnight's time we will send you an official order for them. Yours faithfully, FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LTD. | ||
