To Sr. from Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} L200a Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}1/KW.28.5.35. We want to send a new unit complete out to Hancock to replace the one he has been running. From previous experience I understand that it is possible to take an engine in without paying duty if it replaces one that is running on a car in the country on Triptyque, as long as the unit which it replaces is re-exported. Will you please make enquiries and confirm that this is so, and tell us the exact channels though which to send the engine in order to avoid complications. If they want us to pay a small amount of duty in view of the fact that the engine to be replaced has done 7,000 miles' running, there is no objection to this, but to pay full duty seems to be absurd. I shall be glad if you will let me have a reply by return, as we are preparing an engine at the present moment. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} Unless GWH.{George W. Hancock - Head Chateauroux} again cracks his car up, Bn.{W.O. Bentley / Mr Barrington} and self will be in Paris Monday night next. Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} | ||
