Messrs. Rolls Royce Ltd.,
Derby.

For the attention of Mr. C. S. Steadman.

Dear Sirs,

We were very pleased indeed to receive your preliminary report on the three sample fan belts recently submitted to you for test, and particularly to note that your first observations are promising.

We are putting in hand another mould to your new dimensions but, as you know, procuring moulds these days is a lengthy business. We will also make arrangements to produce belts to your drawing EW.1518. These again will not be available for some weeks yet.

As regards the distorted belt, we think possibly that in the overstressing you describe, the cords have become displaced. We must acknowledge that our experience is not yet wide enough for us to be positive about this so we are referring the question to our American colleagues and we will let you know what they think about it as soon as they reply.

We will also write you again giving definite dates for the sample belts and an approximate date when we expect to be in production.

Yours faithfully,
FERODO LIMITED
