6053 15th April 1937 Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Wst.8/AP. Messrs Joseph Lucas Ltd., Great King Street, BIRMINGHAM.19 For the attention of Mr.R.L.Neill. Dear Sirs, New type Lucas Head Lamps for R.R. and Bentley Chassis. We have now had an opportunity of trying out on rough roads the stronger springs you sent to us for fitting to the head lamps of the above type which we are now trying out. We regret to say that the lamps 'dither' very badly and the reflector gives quite a big swing when travelling over an excessively bad pot hole. It is most important, therefore, that you fit much stronger springs to these reflectors, and if you will let us have some of various ratings we will arrange to try them out immediately. It is considered that by preventing the reflector from dithering would go a long way to eliminating failures of parts fitted to the reflector. Yours faithfully, FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LTD. | ||
