X8664b. COPY. PD.45. 25th February, 1930. X.8664b. PHANTOM II. 56 COIL HIGHER X.7660 OUTPUT DYNAMO 18.HO.SS.{S. Smith} FOR THE PRINCE OF WALES' CAR. This machine, the first 56 coil higher output dynamo made for Phantom II chassis, was one of three instructed by our EFC3/AD28.1.30 as the result of a request for a machine having a higher output than standard, for the Prince of Wales' car. The original machine, modified and designated OS.95.SS{S. Smith} - M.H.O., was received by us and bench tested in the laboratory when it was found that though the curve had been appreciably raised at high speeds, the output on the peak was unaffected. This was considered insufficient. As regards heating, the machine was quite O.K. the figures being Output. 13.2 amperes at 1620 r.p.m. Temperature. 17 - 57 - 74. B = 13° C = 122° (Angles of std. machine 9° 122°) 18.HO.SS.{S. Smith} This machine was received 19.2.30 and bench tested, the results being as follows :- Heating test. Output. 14.6 amperes at 1750 r.p.m. Temperature. 16 - 58 - 74. B = 8.5° C = 128° (Angles required :- B = 9° C = 127°) Output curve Amperes Speed (r.p.m.) O 860 (Peak) 15.0 1850 10.3 3400 | ||
