Handwritten: Petrol Pump Switch file Handwritten: 613 q? Handwritten: See Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} CHASSIS - RR: SWITCH FOR TESTING EACH SIDE OF PETROL PUMP. Referring to Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}16/E.21.4.37. I had already made arrangements for all stocks of petrol pump switches at the Works and the Depots to be returned to Messrs. Lucas to have narrow air gaps introduced on each side of the bakelite insulation insertion. The total number of petrol pump switches that have been issued up to this evening is 734, in addition there are 63 chassis on testfitted with same, in round numbers there are something like 800 petrol pump switches to be dealt with. I had not gone further than re-calling all the stocks and returning all petrol pump switches which are available to Messrs. Lucas for correction as indicated above, as I am not satisfied that the switch even with the gap can be looked upon as a final solution. I hesitated to reply because I was expecting information from Messrs. Lucas which has not come to hand in regard to the Rolls-Royce type of switch, the information being :- (a). What it would cost. (b). When it would be available. If this switch could be obtained quickly at a reasonable cost, my view is that we should replace all the existing type of switch with the RR. type, as this would effectually clear up the position.
