From the Rolls-Royce experimental archive: a quarter of a million communications from Rolls-Royce, 1906 to 1960's. Documents from the Sir Henry Royce Memorial Foundation (SHRMF).
Clarifying that a customer's feedback on his 20 HP car was overwhelmingly positive, not critical as previously implied.

Re GFN-8..G.R.N.Minchin

CWB. informs us that you had only received a list of various items which Mr.Minchin criticised in a mild way on his 20 h.p. There is something wrong here, because I sent to the Works a copy of the whole of Mr.Minchin's letter, and started off by saying:-

"We enclose herewith copy of letter received from Mr.Minchin, from which you will see that he is extremely pleased with the new 20 h.p. car which he has just taken delivery of.

You will notice that Mr.Minchin makes a number of suggestions, some of them of a minor character, and we have numbered these; and the comments of Sales upon these various points are as follows"

Mr. Minchin's letter was, of course, full of praise of his 20 h.p. I enclose you herewith a copy.
It is a pity you should have been given the impression that his letter was nothing but criticism. Perhaps you will let me know how this came about. We certainly wanted you to see first and foremost how delighted he is with the car - in fact, we are using a very large part of his letter in our advertisements.
