J.11 & J.111 CAR.

We expect to send one of these cars over to France for tests, about the middle of December. A specification has been got out for the car and body and all the improvements which have come along in the development of Peregrine are being adapted to J.11.

The first car to go to France will not have the final improvement but it will have sufficient to make it well worth while running it in France.

We are recommending that we do not adopt the shortened propeller shaft on J.11 or J.111. We do not expect the engine to run as fast as Peregrine. It will not run any faster than the present J.1 unit. It also has the advantage that the propeller shaft is 3" shorter than the present 25 HP. Therefore taking into consideration all points, the straight forward propeller shaft without the extension will be quite satisfactory.

The biggest development work we have to do is in connection with the R.R. carburettor. So far all the work on the J.111 engine has been done with the two single carburetter.
