X6090 Ry/RD. From Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Wst. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Wst.3/MA.28.12.32. D.Sch.625. With reference to your Ry/RD.7/W.23.12.32., we have noted the following points on the above wiring diagram. (a) In the list of switching operations against No.4 it is stated that full charge comes on with side and tail whereas this should only be Winter day charge with the three charge scheme. (b) No positive feed from the push button switch is shewn for the "teazer" winding of the starter motor. (c) The starter relay circuits are not "fused" as on the 40/50 chassis. The positive feed for the push button could be fed through fuse No.6. With the ultimate adoption, we hope, of a voltage controlled dynamo field fuse will not be necessary and this will realease a fuse for the starter relay circuits. (d) We are a little dubious about connecting cigar lighters through the ammeter because if two are fitted to a car and used simultaneously the ammeter needle would go hard over. The question of whether we should pass coachbuilders accessories through our ammeter might be discussed with E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer}, personally we should prefer them bye-passing the ammeter. (e) We note that the switch box is intended to allow of a live supply being always available for body lights and accessories etc., whereas our original intention was that the whole of the chassis circuits, with the exception of the heavy cable supply to the motor, would be dead with the switch in the off position, in order to preven accidental full discharge of the battery owing to negligence in leaving some accessory or body light switched on after leaving the car. This happened on one of our Expl. cars where an electrical car heater was fitted. | ||
