Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} H13/HC.5.5.30. *7940- Laboratory. Report No.L1829 Re Deposit from filter 23FX. Re Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}1/1W30.4.30. The approximate analysis of the deposit is as follows :- Disintegrated Rubber 50 % Aluminium Turnings 20 % Aluminium Oxide (hydrated) 20 % Iron Oxide (hydrated) 5 % Copper and Zinc Oxides 5 % It would appear from this analysis that the galvanising is protecting the cylinder block, efficiently, from corrosion, and it is of course evident that this deposit is in no way attributable to the protective measures.
