RE. 23-EX RADIATOR.

With reference to Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}4/E.1.5.30.

Though the S.S. cars have not been run 10,000 mile tests in the hottest part of the summer, PN.{Mr Northey} had 21-EX at Grenoble at the end of June 1929.

About this time I personally drove this car 100 miles at high speeds in France with high atmospheric temperatures and was satisfied that it was as well cooled as any car we have previously had.

PN.{Mr Northey} reported enthusiastically on the cooling of the car when climbing the Galibier and Lautaret.

We have made tests in Derby here, comparing Phantom 1 and Phantom ll at high speeds, which shew that we have not lowered our efficiency. We agree, however, that we have never previously run a Phantom ll with thermostatically operated shutters.

We shall take the opportunity of getting some high speed cooling figures at Brooklands as this is an ideal place for such tests.

We have asked G.W.Hancock to remove the filter from his radiator as this is of no interest, and his future reports will shew whether this had any bearing on the trouble.

You will observe that in the Daily report for 30.4.30
