Dear Sirs,

We have received the special 58 m.m. Bentley matrix (to altered print EB.518) which you have constructed for comparison with the latest American Vee product, for which we thank you.

We note, however, (see attached sheet) that your matrix is heavier than the American one, considered from a weight per unit volume standpoint. In view of the fact that the American matrix is thinner than your own, (2.060 against 2.285) and therefore should have a higher proportion of solder per unit volume, we should expect the reverse to be true.

We are of course proceeding to compare the cooling properties of the two matrices as soon as possible, but should like your suggestions as to the cause of this difference in weight.

While on the subject of matrix weights, we should also like to know whether you consider that the variation in weight of the Mark V.{VIENNA} Bentley matrices which you are now supplying us, could be easily reduced. On a number of such matrices which we have weighed, the maximum variation has been 3 lbs., which amounts to 9.5% of the weight of the matrix.

We thank you for expediting the manufacture of this special matrix which you have sent us, and hope to be able to give you some idea of its comparison with the American product in the near future.
