Phantom III.

Stay between Engine and Gearbox.

We send herewith N.Sch.5072 showing a stay between the engine and gearbox on the lines of that tried by the Experimental Department and Test Departments, and found to be a partial cure for transmission knocks.

Compared with the stay between the engine and the frame this new stay may appear to be too strong. However, we would rather have it too strong than too weak as it is required on production as soon as possible. Also the discrepancy is we think more on the side of the stay between the engine and the frame which we think is now too weak. We have strengthened the latter stay by increasing the thickness to .192 but we cannot do anything with the attachments as this scheme is required to go into existing cars.
