To Hm.{Capt. W. Hallam - Head Repairs} from R.{Sir Henry Royce} c. to CJ. BJ. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} +3436 R4/M11.6.25. RE. ENGINE EXHAUST FUMES IN BODY. X. 8230 X. 3436 X. 3908 I saw BJ. on this subject, and admitted that I had noticed the same fault, the smell coming from the end of the exhaust, following the body, and creeping in at the door clearance through the a joint. My suggestion is that we try a swan neck of increased length, possibly looking down, or in some way that the exhaust fumes are left behind on the road surface instead of being trailed behind the car in its wake.
