Ev.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork}..from C. c.c. to Sg{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} LRO WGT Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} By Ph/Ev{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} +7810. C16/05.12.29 RECEIVED Phantom II..SPARE WHEELS & RIDING. RL/MS.12.29 There appears to be some misunderstanding in regard to the spare wheels on the Prince of Wales' car. It is true that in the first instance it was suggested that two wheels should be carried on this car, both mounted behind the tube, but this was found to be impracticable from the point of view of carrying the wheels, I understand. In any case, the idea was dropped, and only one wheel is carried at the rear, this wheel being in the position of the second wheel on cars like 18-KX. We were very glad that the Prince dropped the idea of carrying the two wheels. I thought you would like to know this, so that you may not worry any further, so far as the Prince of Wales' car is concerned in particular. You will be glad to know that the Prince has had the car on the road and is extremely pleased with it, as is also his head driver. C. | ||
