From the report of the Works and from the conversation I had with Mr. Bailey and Mr. Haldenby I understand that these are particularly sweet and quiet working.

The two troubles that we are up against are:
(a) To keep them safely free from oil.
(b) To provide enough h.p. from the action of the pedal to work them with sufficient power and clearance.

For some other reasons it may be necessary to go over this job again to see if we can get a satisfactory arrangement with the brake drum which, in my opinion, would work out lighter and enable us to make a more rigid brake.
