Re. 19-EX.

The car arrived here on Sunday morning. Monday and Tuesday were occupied in a general examination, preparing the car for the mileage.

During the run here we have had similar experience to Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} on Brooklands, i.e. the car fading away after sustained high speed.

The air temperature has been between 20 and 25°C, and the water temperature has reached 92°C, with the oil temperature at 100°C.

There was no signs of preignition but the symptoms were similar to those experienced with 25-EX when the petrol boiled.

I have now raised the petrol pipe clear of the frame and will let you know if we have any further trouble from this source.

There has been considerable leakage of oil from the O.S.N. hub; this has been dismantled and cleaned and we will check the axle oil level when hot.

We will do further mileage before fitting the breather to the axle.

The clutch shewed no signs of slipping, and was quite smooth in action.

I find we have here the necessary shields and asbestos for lagging the front silencer, downpipe etc, and will carry out the experiments you suggest.

We have received your letter this morning, and thank you for the list of troubles we have had previously. We will keep these in view and will report accordingly.

We have commenced the mileage this morning.
