Mr. A.B. Roberts, c/o Hotel de France, Chateauroux, Indre, FRANCE. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}1/KT. 27.6.32. Re. 19-EX. We send you herewith a list of 19-EX troubles which were noticed on the last 10,000 miles test. We suggest that you take particular note of each of the items, while you are running the car. With reference to the exhaust system, we send you herewith copy of a note to RHC{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer}, in which we ordered these pipes; you will see that each pipe is made in two thicknesses. At the present moment, the thicknesses of the pipes fitted are - .144 downtake pipe and expansion box .092 intermediate pipe. Before you remove these pipes, we should like you to make a test, lagging, to see which portion of the system is responsible for the noise. You may find that you can cut out the tinniness by lagging the expansion box, in which case the first thing to change would be the expansion box. Naturally we do not want you to run the test with lagging as the pipes are only made in mild steel and will not stand up under these conditions.
