Dear Sirs,

We have returned the 500 c.c. engine after completely overhauling same.

The list of replacements and account will be supplied by the Service Department, but the following observations may be of interest.

The main bearing outer elements had commenced to work out of their housings which we put down to the high crankcase temperature that would be obtained when you were running the water cooled head and barrel without oil cooling. When we were running similar experiments we had a similar experience, and fitted a locking plate to hold the elements in position. The maximum B.M.E.P. is now about 3% higher than when the engine was first supplied in 1934, while the peak H.P. is about 3% lower. We put this down to the
