Mr. Johnson - 2.

b-Re-designing, probably scrapping, certain jigs etc.

c-Waiting for perhaps a month or longer before we have in our hands new Standardization Sheets, complete drawings, etc.

d-It will probably require, after that time, two or three months, possibly longer, to obtain new supplies of material, new tools, jigs, and fixtures, and possibly a delay in our entire production of cars.

8. Our conclusion is that we, here, can best determine as to when a change in design can be placed in effect in our production program, unless it is a matter of very vital importance.

I understand that before a change of this nature can be put into effect, the Alteration Sheets must be approved by Mr. Wormald and yourself, and that such approvals are only given after careful consideration of all manufacturing, financial and moral effects, and unless we hear from you to the contrary, before we put changes in design into effect, we will give it the same consideration as it effects us.

To assist us, we would suggest the following:-

A.{Mr Adams} We should have full copies of all experimental reports as soon as issued. We do not receive these now.

B. We should have full copies of all Mr. Platford's Running Test Reports as soon as issued; we do not have these now.

C. Do you have a weekly list of experimental work done on each item in the hands of the Experimental Department? If so, we should be glad to have the reports issued upon the same as it no doubt will indicate the weekly results of the more important experimental work.

This would be extremely useful to us in anticipating what might possibly be adopted at some future time, and in helping to decide our method of manufacturing; design of tools; the quantity of materials to be purchased, and generally, direct our operations more intelligently. For example: as above referred to, had Mr. Olley not happened to have been in England in January, we might have on hand material for Top Water Connections for 250 cars.

D.{John DeLooze - Company Secretary} To assist us in anticipating important changes,
