Gentlemen,
H.{Arthur M. Hanbury - Head Complaints} F.{Mr Friese} Millenite.
We are in receipt of your letter of the 5th inst., enclosing a sample of a Millenite liner which was very badly scored.
From its appearance one would think that grit had got into the brake drum, but as you protect this part so carefully we are afraid that this explanation must be ruled out.
We are therefore quite at a loss to account for the drums wearing in this abnormal way.
The only information we have which bears at all on the subject is that when we were carrying out lengthy experiments with brake drums we never could get a drum fitted with a liner to wear nearly as well as a solid brake drum made from exactly the same material.
Yours faithfully,
FOR LAKE & ELLIOT, LIMITED.
W. S. Lake
Governing Director.
