JOSEPH LUCAS LIMITED TELEGRAMS & CABLES: "LUCAS, BIRMINGHAM" TELEPHONES: NORTHERN 5201 (12 LINES) HEAD OFFICES GREAT KING ST.{Capt. P. R. Strong} BIRMINGHAM, 19 MANAGING DIRECTORS' OFFICE YOUR REF Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}4/ML. OUR REF OL/JAP 20th March 1941 Lamps W.A.Robotham, Esq., Messrs. Rolls-Royce Limited, DERBY. Dear Robotham, I was particularly interested to get your drawings of the lamps for the new model and shall have pleasure in making them up with what speed we can these days. I have already seen our Experimental Department about them and will keep behind the job. You do not show any adjustment for the headlamp, neither is it clear how this can be arranged without it upsetting the streamline effect. I am therefore proposing to provide the necessary articulation of the reflector within the lamp housing as an essential feature of the design unless I hear from you to the contrary. With regard to the rubber starter drive, after long delay we got in some new rubbers last week. These have been built into drives and we are doing a destruction test on one of them to see if we can record any improvement from a bench investigation before we have the benefit of your more practical road experience. I expect to be able to send off a couple of the new drives to you early next week if possible together with some test figures. With kind regards, Yours sincerely, Oliver Lucas | ||
