selective and stable; on uneven roads slight joggles but no severe shocks. The lightened type steering wheel does not show any weakness. The grip is not good for long distances, cramp in the hands is experienced. New type horn switch is an improvement, but is too light in operation. There have been occasions when jolting of the car caused the contact to be made. A slight knock has developed in the column coming from the thrust race. Very little oil has been lost from the steering box. Pendulum lever bearing has been amply lubricated.

FRONT AXLE STRENGTHENED LOP.GB.1835. 1° INCLINATION AND THREE BOLT FLANGE. FRONT BRAKES LOP.GB.1236. BRAKES LINED WITH BZ FERODO LINING. (EASY BRAKE ADJUSTMENT.)

The axle was in a sound condition, lubrication to axle pins was ample; there was no leak of oil from bottom of pivots. Both brakes were dry, but the OS. side efficiency had been reduced by the saturation of oil during the first part of the mileage. Both brake drums were in a good condition. The front brake shoes were in a good condition. The wear has been very little, due in the first part of the mileage, to the equalising levers being set too far forward, reducing the leverage. One full turn only has been used in adjustment. The friction loads on the cross and side steering tubes has remained consistent, i.e. 31 inch and 21 inch lbs.

REAR AXLE LOP. GB. 619. GB.1208 RANSOME AND MARLES BALL RACE WITH DURAL BALL CAGE. GB.100829. PINION HOUSING.

The rear axle has not developed any noisy period during the mileage. We dismantled the pinion for examination, and as much of the dural cage as we could observe was in a good condition. This race has now run 14,000 miles. There is still a slight oil leak down the off side driving shaft, but we have prevented the oil getting on to the brakes, by enlarging the drain hole.

REAR BRAKES. LOP. GB.854.

Incorporating RR. sch.543 brake adjustment. Brakes lined with BZ material.

The brakes have been efficient. The drums and brake linings were in a good condition; four full turns of adjustment have been taken up during the mileage. Brake mechanism showed no weakness, operating shafts were well lubricated.

FRONT ROAD SPRINGS. LOP. FB.241. NS.{Norman Scott}477 - 5303.

Piece N° FB.15
Type 650 lbs.
Initial Camber 2.500
Buffer clearance I 7/16"

The springs were examined and no buckling of the spring leaves had taken place; lubrication was more even, than when examined at 5,000 miles. Attachment to axle was firm.
