washers or bolts should be used on some of these nuts.

A further defect we have noticed in two instances was that the carbon contacts overlap the auxiliary contact, i.e. make contact before the auxiliary contact breaks, this point causing incorrect operation.

On account of the above we should be glad if you would again write to Messrs. Bleriot and tell them in a suitable way that we were quite impressed with the first two cut-outs received and we have always been impressed with the principle of operation, but unless they can provide us with consistent, satisfactory and reliable instruments upon which to make our necessary experimental tests, we cannot see our way to any possibility of standardising these.

The seven cut-outs recently received have created a bad impression upon us.
