Experimental Dept. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/NRC.{N. R. Chandler}7/JH. 3rd July, 1937. Messrs. Borg & Beck Co.Ltd., Tachbrook Road, Leamington Spa. Dear Mr.Armitage, Mr. Rowbotham has asked me to thank you for your letter of the 1st. inst. enclosing the curves showing the rating of the Long and the Ex.27309 cushion springs, which are very interesting. For your information, I enclose a curve Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}307 which shows these two plates on the same sheet, also a test of the Ex.27309 plate taken by us. The difference in the shape of the two observations may be due to the fact that you used a temporary Hyco facing and we used a VM.20 but the actual deflection per pound of the two observations agrees fairly closely. We do not ytet know whether or not the wide difference in rating of the American and English springs makes much difference in clutch operating, but experiments are proceeding. Yours sincerely, | ||
