-3- Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} Contd. Sft{Mr Swift}2/BH.12.12.32. having to cut the Gear is a definite extra cost on this section. We propose, however, to see whether there is some other manner from a newer machinery point of view, of producing the Camshaft quicker. 12. INTERMEDIATE PROPELLER SHAFT. - This is an additional section, and is an increase. We have also suggested to the D.O. that this section should be modified, so that it can be made as a separate unit in the Boy's Dept. and could be put straight into the Frame. As it is now designed, the assembling must be done on the Frame. We still think the D.O. should re-consider this section. 13. REAR AXLES. - This design is similar to the 20/25 HP. slightly scaled down, and it is difficult to obtain a substantial reduction. We have reduced costs by deleting certain machining on Brake Straps (Main and Auxiliary) by producing castings to size, and by using Bifurcated riveting, and reducing the number of rivets, and using Aluminium Bronze Stampings (Aux. Straps) instead of our sand castings. The Hypoid Bevel for the Peregrine is dearer than the straight Gleason Bevels used on the 20/25 HP. 14. ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT. - This is practically similar with the exception of the Starter Motor, on which we have made a little saving. I understand there is a probability of additional equipment (but not yet decided) to come along. This will probably include a Vibrator Control, and may mean a changeover from the 2/3 Brush scheme. Until we know more about this we cannot say exactly what the reduction will be. At the moment we can only promise a very modest reduction. 15. AXLE DAMPERS. - Front Axle - these are additional to 20/25 HP. 16. RELIEF VALVES. - This is an extra section, and is an additional cost. 17. OIL LEVEL INDICATOR. - Much more expensive than the 20/25 HP. design. 18. STEERING COLUMN. - Similar to 20/25 HP. By altering methods of manufacture, will obtain a 14% reduction. Can Design Office help by a simplified scheme in place of present one. Sft.{Mr Swift} | ||
