Mx{John H Maddocks - Chief Proving Officer}8/T11.6.30. PHANTOM II GEAR BOXES. Further to my memo MX{John H Maddocks - Chief Proving Officer}9/T30.5.30., we have run three Phantom Gear boxes with 50% of Whitmore's Compound. These boxes were run on this mixture through Unit and Dynamometer test - in every case the condition of the gears surface was excellent. In accordance with arrangements made with Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} we shall now run three more boxes with a similar percentage of Price's Compound, and incidentally we are arranging to revert to Price's Compound for axle testing.
