X6016. By.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} from EFC. EFC3/AD27.5.30. X.6016. HALF CHARGE RESISTANCE. In specifying (on a drawing or otherwise) the length of wire required for a resistance in which it is invariably the case that a certain amount has to be allowed for end connections, this is liable to misinterpretation unless very clearly stated on the drawing, a case in point having just occurred in connection with half charge resistance. Although it is agreed that the specification on the drawing is not really at fault, we consider it would be desirable that in specifying the total length of resistance, this be actually specified as two parts, one of which definitely is the active length and the other the end connections. The drawing in question at the moment is D.72813. Once resistances like ballast resistances, are made up they cannot be altered without scrapping the insulating material. EFC. | ||
