To R.{Sir Henry Royce} from Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/GWH.{George W. Hancock - Head Chateauroux} c. BJ.Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} c. E.Da.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} c. By.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} RE EW6. SLEEVELESS TYPE OF WATFORD MAGNETO. 99171 The results of our tests with this magneto on 9Ex are - the slow running is good, no misfires at a speed of 5 m.p.h. top gear. High speed 60 m.p.h. good - acceleration weak mixtures no misfires. Starting up from cold with starter motor, O.K. We object to the noise from the contact breaker, this being no improvement to the present standard, also the gears are rough and inclined to sing. These faults are increased as the magneto gets hot. We should say that the magneto at present is not passable for production as regards silence. These points are being taken up with the Watford Co. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/G.W.Hancock. | ||
