X.457) Steering Wobbles. Extract from Wor{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager}/Hy{Tom Haldenby - Plant Engineer} 5/L 24/13. HL We have now fitted up the plain thrust bearings to the column of a car and will have some running in a day or so. X457 The Lanchester car has just been re-erected and I have tried this for steering wobbles. It wobbles with 2 lbs attached to front wheels and is about the same as the Delaunay-Belleville, perhaps a little worse. It is better than Daimler, Napier and R.R. The wobble is not transmitted to the hand wheel and I think this must be due to the fact that it seems to be geared low in the steering box and is fitted with rather a long pendulum lever to make up the movement. However I will take measure-ments and report later. | ||
