1263 Experimental Department January 29th.1937. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/JBD.{John B. Dixon - Fuel Systems}4/AP. The S.U. Company, East Works, Bordesley Green Road, Adderley Park, BIRMINGHAM 8. For the attention of Mr.Skinner. Dear Sirs, We thank you for your two letters, one regarding the Bentley thermostarter and the other about the 25/30.HP. downdraught carburetter. In answer to your query about the latter, the carburetter is situated on the near side of the engine, and it will not be possible to fit it with the suction chamber towards the engine, owing to the tappet cover and air silencer. There will also be barely sufficient clearance between the float chamber and air silencer when it is mounted with the suction chamber towards the bonnet, however, it would be possible to move the air silencer slightly to suit. With regard to the Bentley thermostarter, we shall be pleased to test same and we hope to be ready to try it out in a week or so, and will have the necessary pocket made for the thermostatic switch. Yours faithfully, FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LIMITED. | ||
