R.R. 255a (100 T) (S.H. 159. 11-8-20) G.{Mr Griffiths - Chief Accountant / Mr Gnapp} 2800 ORIGINAL TO HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} FROM R.{Sir Henry Royce} S E C R E T. R2/M15.2.24. Copy to OG. RG.{Mr Rowledge} PN.{Mr Northey} W. DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} A.{Mr Adams} C. re. PN{Mr Northey}'S CAR AND PRO-PORTIONATE BRAKING. X9680 X9940 My impression is that PN.{Mr Northey} was braking his car with his front wheel brakes and his servo, that the servo would naturally wear and be replaced by adjustment, whereas also it was necess- ary to adjust the rear brakes. As far as I can see this cannot take place with the arrangement we are putting into production. It is also for such a reason that I desire the floating lever instead of the shaft type of equaliser which can get its levers at the wrong angles and make a great differ- ence in the proportions. Half the trouble with heat and wear of this servo has been that it has done too much of the braking. R.{Sir Henry Royce} | ||
