For the attention of Mr.Frazer

Dear Sirs,

Girling Brakes on a 4 1/4 Litre Bentley.

We have had to reline the rear brakes of this car after 9,000 miles. The shoes were lined with Ferodo B.Z. The off-side was worn considerably more than the near side, the top lining on each side (the wrapping lining) had worn more than the bottom one.

We do not expect to wear out our standard brakes in less than 14,000 miles, using a less durable and rather smaller liner; they wear more evenly.

The brakes have developed an occasional bad thump which cannot be controlled, and which occurs when using either foot or hand brake. This rather suggests a worn wedge. We have not examined the wedge unit itself.

If it proves after 14,000 miles not to be in good condition we shall have to take up with you its method of manufacture.

Yours faithfully,

FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LTD.
