Bentley Chassis - Minutes of Meeting Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}21/E.21.12.34

Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager}3/R.1.1.35. Modified Axle Control.

The design for this is well in hand. The scheme calls for a modified axle forging but it may be possible to produce an axle by modifying an existing set of dies. It is doubtful whether it will be possible to get this on to 5-B-IV before it goes away, and we are not of the opinion that it is wise to do so. We think this scheme requires extensive testing to prove its worth in England, before it is sent away for standardisation tests.

Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager}6/R.1.1.35. Front Brake Thumps.

A design has been completed and issued (N.Sch.4314) to improve the consistency of the friction loading on the servo swinging arm. There does not appear to be any reason why this should not be fitted to 5-B-IV before it goes away. This is a small modification which improves the consistency of the friction load but does not increase the area of the friction surface appreciably. To give increased area and load necessitates rather major alterations and we are looking into the possibilities of accomplishing this in the simplest manner.

Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager}7/R.1.1.35. Oil on rear brakes.

N. Sch's 4193/4, 4205 have completed and indicate on Sch.4. a design which should be utilised immediately on production. This is already fitted to 5-B-IV and we think should prove satisfactory. In any case it is thought that 5-B-IV will have completed its tests before production cars having this modification will have left the works.
