W/P - Sr. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Swdl.{Len H. Swindell}11/JH.4.8.38. CHASSIS B.125.GP. In reply to your memo. Sr/VA.10/GM.15.7.38. the main bearings which were removed from the above car in a siezed condition, have been analysed and found to be of the correct material, namely AC.7. We can only conclude therefore that as the car had only completed a small mileage after being modified before roughness was noticed, that the clearance on the maximum crank diameter was slightly undersized or that the car was driven at high speeds without sufficiently running in after the new bearings were fitted.
