[handwritten symbol gamma] To Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} from Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} c. to Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}8/AP.12.1.37. 6. B.IV. GIRLING BRAKES. It is not necessary to be alarmed about Hancock's remarks on the Girling Brakes. You will note what he says about the steering. This is standard, but from the remarks you might think it is no good at all. You will note that on the last 10,000 miles test on B.56.BN.{W.O. Bentley / Mr Barrington} on the 1st. day's report Hancock says the brakes are not adequate for the speed of the car. This was a standard system with a lining which according to our tests was very little different to standard. When the brakes have settled down we expect the French testers to get an average value for them and if they are still considered to require too much pedal pressure we shall increase the servo efficiency.
