It would mean considerable difficulty and complication to have the spare coil wired up with a suitable switch. In cases where a spare coil is carried it is carried purely as a spare and has to be fitted in place of the original one before it can be used. We are not so pessimistic as regards the reliability of the coil. We should say 95% of motor-cars to day are running about with battery ignition only, and there is only one make of car we know of which fits a spare coil as standard. We believe it would be better to start the car off without a spare coil and to supply one later if it is proved necessary because if we start with a spare coil it is very difficult to get rid of it. As regards the body, we think the seating may be too luxurious and that some room could be obtained inside the body without making the external dimensions larger. The alteration to the brake camshafts will improve the well for rear passengers. The one criticism we have against the Bensport car is that it is not fast enough and we are sure this is the complaint we shall receive. We have done a lot of work to increase the power of the engine and I think we ought to do a little to reduce the resistance of the body. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} | ||
