Da{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}/McS. c. By/CS. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Swdl.{Len H. Swindell}4/MH.{M. Huckerby}1.2.39. VALVE GEAR LUBRICATION (B.60 & B.80). Further to our memo Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Swdl.{Len H. Swindell}1/MH.{M. Huckerby}23.1.39 regarding the inclusion of annular grooves in the rocker shaft to give improved lubrication, the O.P. dept. say that it would be preferable to put the groove in the bush rather than the shaft, despite the fact that the bush is not fool proof and can be fitted the wrong way round. The correct way is for the groove to be in line with the hole on the push rod side of the rocker and not the valve tip side. We should like a drawing modifying the bush EB.4198 to include this groove and machining in our stock of plain bushes which we will supply. These can then be fitted to B.60 and B.80 engines in conjunction with the standard ungrooved shafts. The position of the C L of the groove should be .750 from one end of the bush and it is .125 wide and .020 deep. Future supplies of bushes from Vandervells will include these grooves in accordance with the modified drawing. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Swdl.{Len H. Swindell} | ||
