Please receive herewith FD.{Frank Dodd - Bodies}368 modified cylinder head. The object is to avoid the necessity of using sodium, cooled exhaust valves. The inlet valve has been sloped and moved nearer the exhaust valve to make the combustion chamber more compact and give the incoming charge a chance to cool the exhaust valve head. The throat is particularly large in area, The spark plug is no longer in a pocket, and the points are closer to the inlet valve. The space over the exhaust valve has been restricted to prevent the gases scrubbing the valve head, while the length of flame travel is reduced. There are no alterations to the cylinder block, studs or holes. The actual design of the rockers and lubrication will follow on a later design. DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} | ||
