-3- Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Std.19/KW.21.9.36. With reference to our heat to jacket water, we agree that our specific heat to jacket figures (heat per B.H.P.) are definitely up as compared with the average American overhead valve engine, or as compared with the Bentley or 25/30 HP. figures. We suspect the reason for this is due largely to the water jacketing of our exhaust ports (see attached sketch). We are about to test out this theory, but again the trouble necessitates redesign of the engine if a remedy is to be effected. Finally, we would mention that Mr. Dunn, of Messrs. John Marston Ltd. (Manager of their Radiator section), will be visiting you shortly in America. We have given him a letter of introduction to yourselves, and would like you to give him any information etc. which you can, particularly in regard to anything which may assist us in our cooling problems. We would again thank you for the trouble you have taken to supply us with information. Yours faithfully, FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LIMITED. | ||
