To Sr/VA. 1256 also 12-4-5 Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Mths.{Reg Matthews}/JH.7.6.37. With reference to your memo. Sr/VA.11/ET.31.5.37. we have arranged with D/BP. to have despatched :- 1 Bentley (4¼ litre) cylinder block to LOP.EB.2715. 6 EB.3151 pistons, these are latest type with which we are about to go into production. 12 E.60820 compression rings for above pistons. 24 EB.3122 scraper rings, these are latest production and have high wall pressure. 6 E.61123 "L" section rings. 6 EB.2845 Gudgeon pins. 12 EB.2300 end pads. The above pistons as now used on production are fitted with 2 E.60820 compression rings and 1 EB.3122 scraper ring, should the oil consumption not be satisfactory we are sending along the "L" section ring which should replace the 2nd. compression ring. We are sending also a further three sets of high pressure rings for you to try in case of complaints. With reference to your own trials car, we have ordered a set of pistons similar to the above but suitable for bore .010 oversize, these will also be fitted with the high pressure scraper rings, and will be despatched to you immediately we are in receipt of them.
