RE FIT OF GUDGEON PINS. x 3400

Will you please arrange to issue standard instructions with reference to the fitting of gudgeon pins.

These I consider are still too tight in the pistons, andin some cases are causing distortion.

I recommend that instructions be issued that the gudgeon pins should be a close push fit; at the same time there should be a good surface bedding between the gudgeon pin and the piston, i.e. similar to the practice on the aero engines.

I am anxious not to be misunderstand on this matter, and I am not recommending a slack fit.
