R.R. 335 a (100 T) (S.F. 674. 22-5-19) G.{Mr Griffiths - Chief Accountant / Mr Gnapp} 7376 EH. from EP.{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer} COPY c. to BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} c. to Bn.{W.O. Bentley / Mr Barrington} EP{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer}12/EF23.10.19. RE FIT OF GUDGEON PINS. x 3400 Will you please arrange to issue standard instructions with reference to the fitting of gudgeon pins. These I consider are still too tight in the pistons, andin some cases are causing distortion. I recommend that instructions be issued that the gudgeon pins should be a close push fit; at the same time there should be a good surface bedding between the gudgeon pin and the piston, i.e. similar to the practice on the aero engines. I am anxious not to be misunderstand on this matter, and I am not recommending a slack fit. EP.{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer} | ||
